The use of dance to initiate and facilitate the healing of physical, emotional and psychological problems.
This therapy uses the moving physical body to access, identify and transform aspects of pain, illness or dysfunction in a client. The trained therapist encourages and supports the client on an unfolding movement journey using spontaneous body movement, symbolic gesture and dance to discover personal meaning.
Through focusing on the spontaneous body movement of a person, the dance therapist can help guide a client to explore, understand and transform aspects of the psyche, personality, physical awareness expression and function.
